Youth outreach work
Youth outreach can help if your future plans are unclear, if you are without housing, income, a job, a place to study, or if you are just lost in direction and you are a young person under 29 or a young adult in the city.
Youth work will walk alongside with you, taking small steps towards the goals you have planned together. These goals are determined by your dreams and aspirations. It also helps when you need help with paperwork, for example with Kela or the employment office. Youth work is voluntary for the young person, which means that you get help with exactly what you want.
You can contact the outreach worker yourself, your parents, friends or other support networks. Under the Youth Act, primary schools, secondary schools and the armed forces are obliged to give the contact details of young people in need of support to the youth worker. Youth outreach work is confidential and free of charge.
Youth outreach work provides individualized support when:
- your studies have been interrupted or you are applying for a study place
- you are about to leave the army or civilian service
- you are homeless
- you find it difficult to leave home and manage your affairs
- you are facing challenges with your health or income
- you are looking for a job, work placement or study place
- you want to clarify your plans for the future
- you want someone to talk to
- you are looking for another service
