Marking the building site
According to Section 149b of the Land Use and Building Act, before construction begins, the relevant municipal authority must ensure that the location and elevation of the building are marked in accordance with the approved plans.
When the building permit has been issued and the building site cleared, the client or the responsible foreman orders the marking of the building’s location.
The delivery time for the marking measurements is approximately 1-2 weeks after the order is placed and it’s included in the building permit fee.
The purpose of marking the location of a building is to guide the builder to build in the location specified in the building permit. The marking of the building is carried out in accordance with the dimensions of the approved site plan with four corner markers. The dimensions used for marking are usually different from the dimensions of the foundations (the builder is responsible for the internal dimensions of the building).
Before marking the building, the customer must check that the boundary markers for the building site can be found on the site. If no boundary markers can be found, the Land Registry must carry out a boundary survey on the property before marking the building site.
If the location of the boundary marker is unclear, the building site will not be marked.
